Raku - Fruit of Nature

A wheel-thrown, bulbous vessel with a small flared neck. Soft hues of muted green and dusky pink meet dark, smoke-marked sections, with fine crackle lines tracing the glazed surface.

My overlapping pouring technique creates flowing boundaries between glaze and exposed clay, allowing smoke to leave its own marks on the form.

Fired in the beautiful grounds of HIRL, this piece brings together fire, smoke and presence—a collaboration with nature.

Approximately 9 × 8.5 cm.

Decorative only NOT waterproof
A dark rim frames the blue within, bringing together the contrasting surfaces.

Fired in the beautiful grounds of HIRL. Naked Raku bulbous Form

A wheel thrown rounded naked raku vessel with a slender, dark neck and a small golden mend on the lip.

Intricate smoke markings trace the pale surface, formed as smoke finds its way through cracks and gaps in the slip during firing. These unpredictable patterns record the process, giving the piece its own distinct character. The golden repair adds a quiet point of warmth.

Fired in the beautiful grounds of HIRL.
